How do I move this rock?

This rock, we had 4 builders, with straps around the bar, attempting to lift it and they could barely get it off the ground.

It needs to be moved from it's current position, to the bed directly above it.

So up, over the wall, and put in the bed.

Any ingenious ideas. This needs to be done by hand.

I was thinking an engine lift, but it would just tip forward.

I'd get down your local hire shop. You need some sort of block and tackle on a hefty frame. Something like this:

Lift and orient the rock so its the right way round, as turning it in the bed will be a PITA
Lift and slide a paver or similar underneath
Build a tower to a height that will allow you to slide the rock along to the flowerbed
Pop a scaff plank on there
Lift and slide a jack of some nature under . You may need to figure out a way of fixing the rock a foot high, and then moving the jack up and repeating
Get the rock to the plank, and lift and slide along

Lower the wall, roll the rock on to the bed behind the lowered wall, then raise the wall

Farm jack under the bar to lift the rock, build up a platform as it's being raised and then slide onto the bed.

Does it need to remain in 1 piece? If not, could you break it up into a few pieces then manually lift the pieces out?

If the end of the bar nearest the wall is overlapping the wall the get the longest bit of scaffold pole you can find on the other end of the bar and you'll have plenty of leverage to lift the rock with the wall as the pivot. Every time you lift it slide a pallet underneath before going back for another lift and another pallet etc until it's level with the wall

Then you should be able to slide the rock off the pallets onto the flowerbed

Fat lad and a stepladder would usefully speed this process up

But try and calculate the weight based on it's volume , assuming density of say 3 grams / cubic centimetre .

You can do anything with enough jacks, scaffold poles and stout bits of wood.

Lots of potential for damage and injury though.

Exactly how I’d do it, farm jack on A frames, lift it, slide planks under it and keep repeating to get it above the wall.

Alternative is build a scaffold frame with a block and tackle on it.
