We need a new shower screen for the bathroom. Previously we've had curtains which are a bit pap.

The problem is that the bath overlaps a wall slightly, meaning we need a screen which goes around the corner, I'm not explaining this too well so here's a picture;

The gap between the wall and the edge of the bath is 390mm, so the screen it's self would need to be around 350mm from the wall to the side of the bath.

Anyone have any ideas?

How about this, had a little time on my hands this morning and ....... well here you go.

Black lines is a 350mm fixed glass screen.
Yellow line is a 90 degree ally strip to fix the screen to the wall junction.
Red lines is the fixed or hinged screen
via the
Blue hinge brackets.

Needs a little work with all the fixings and sourcing the parts but it can be done.

Also the fixed panel would need to run to the ceiling to get a secure fixing top and side wise for the piece of mind with regards to the hinged door.

Did you want a glass shower screen?

Because what you have there is a common problem when wanting a glass shower screen. It's often having a window on the back wall of the shower (where the taps are), thus the shower screen would cut through a window. You then have to stop the water going into the window alcove and round the back of the profile.

You're problem would be having no where to mount the screen in the first place, although....you can get glass shower screens with a fixed panel and then a hinged section. Depending on the fixed panels dimensions, maybe you could be in luck. But you would be loosing the fixed panel length off the total length of screen splash protection down the side of the bath.

Just measured mine, the fixed panel is 320mm, so you'd be a bit short.

Cedric - That's exactly what I'm looking for. Do you know anywhere good that I may be able to buy all those bits?

GM - I've trawled the net this morning on that idea - I can find a couple but they work out to be expensive given that they'll be compromised, as you say, I'm going to end up with a fairly short side panel

Not sure where you are, but i would start with a good local glazing company. Sometimes they can do more than just replace windows and the like.

If not drop me a PM and I'll try to find someone who could do the whole one stop solution.

Cedric.

Thanks Cedric, I'll call around local places tomorrow and see what they can do (I'm in Bedford)

Failing that I'll pop you a PM, thanks for the kind offer

The rigid panel would need to have some sort of support. The shower screens above have an arm which braces the non hinging panel against the wall as well as being supported by the profile.

A glazing company would be able to source and drill the glass for you, I don;t know if they would have the hinges or a way to seal it against the wall? Also needs sealing where it hinges and where it contacts the bath. £££ It'll build up.

try spiral hardware, they designed and supplied a glass wall for me, very cheap and very good quality, because of the depth they went into regarding fitting, i found it very very easy to fit.

I would guess something like that from them would be no more than about £300

Have a look at http://www.crlaurence.co.uk/apps/contentloader/def... as they are a major supplier of the hinges, frames and handles you would need.

Any decent glazier would be able to supply the glass to do the job in toughened or laminated.
