Hi All,
Just moved into a house that has lead glass windows with rather poor secondary glazing looking to replace, any recommendations for companies or what I should be paying per window, friend said around 350 per window fitted???

Thx

We had 16 window (incl 2 bays), patio doors, and a front door done for £7500 about 4 years ago. I'd look for a local guy (like we did) or small company based on recommendations from local people. Avoid the big company "buy one get one free" bollux.

Thanks for that, so 350 per window is not that far off...

Hopefully paying £2500 for 4 windows, a bay and a front door to be fitted at the start of next year.

Small local chap from recommendations.

I've just ordered 14 windows + 1 door (supply only) to U=1.5 rating via a builders merchant for just over £2.5k + VAT.

Any decent carpenter can fit windows - I'd allow about £50 per window tops, depending upon how much time and effort it takes if any old ones need pulling out.

Thx all, are they all the same type of quality? I hear some are filled with a higher density gas?

2010 building regs is 1.6U. 1.5U was OK, achieving 1.4U was going to cost a lot more.
Until this year IIRC most were 1.8U.

Might help to give an indication of the area within the UK you live.

Slight hijack but does anyone know if a pensioner living alone can get DG installed for less?
