Have snow over hanging a pitched glass roof. From both the top and the side. Looks sizeable on both side. The side has a drop of about 2.5 feet. Will the roof hold?

Edit to say photo's taken this morning. Snow piles now seem to have merged so if one goes, I suspect so does the other. It's war of nerves...

A bit more snow and the mound on the ground will join the heap on the roof - you'll have an igloo.
I would guess that if it can slide off the sloping glass roof the force of the fall will, to a certain extent be deflected into forward motion and it will slide off and away. The glass roof is relatively warm and there is a nice lubricating layer of water to aid the avalanche's progress down the slope - taking the glass roof's gutter with it no doubt..

I have just had the window open to see what I can reach... The surface of the snow is still powder, although there some wicked icicles hanging off the gutter. It's not moving for a while is my thought process after testing it. Have to see what it looks like in the morning. Hopefully.
PS what is the right answer to the question "is that my broom"

I wouldn't know what to do for the best.
Do you tackle it now a chip some off, or wait and hope it melts slowly without an avalanche.
If £200 covers the glazing I would poke at it with a brush, whilst my wife videos impending crash, then send the tape off to YBF.
Good luck.
Yes, and don't worry about any damage - that's what insurance is for!Do you tackle it now a chip some off, or wait and hope it melts slowly without an avalanche.

Not entirely sure what you can do about it...
