In a bit of a quandry with my bedroom project.
Spent lots of time on it, even more money, did all the shape design and shape of bathroom / wardeorbes myself, and most people involved have been impressed with it, use of space, layout etc.

BUt now plasteres are in, I have the difficult task of trying to decide on curtains, carpet, walpaper and paint. The missus is quite good on such things, but I am trying to finish it as a surprise for her 40th in two weeks time. She's away the week before and whilst she knows we are "gettign there with it" (After 12 long months!) che doesn't knwo I am off the week before and have plumbers, electricians etc booked.

We have recently been a bit "let down" on the carpets and bathroom flooring i say let down, unfortunately the company we were using closed down. So am starting that process of picking and arranging for flooring. I have some tile and roller bling samples coming, but we need curtains also. I have some walpaper samples.

But I dont know what goes with what, pattern and colour wise, also I need to order some rads, and been looking at a range of "designer ones" that can go horizontal and vertical, and we need one of each. They come in various finishes, and I dont know which to order! !
So are interior designers for a room that is planned out shape wise a good idea? Anyone any tips! Anyone got any programs to mock up a colour scheme? I dont want to make anyone catch the ghey, but any ideas appreciated, so HELP ME PH designers! biggrin

I should maybe add some details of exiting furnishings. Basically a huge room dividing wardrobe that you walk through to the bathroom, all done in a satin fnish olivewood, fllor to ceiling, (actually lowered the ceiling to make it look like it was holding the celinig up. Three warderobes, two half heigh with draweres underneath, one split ffull hanging with shelves on the other side.

Leather (TV!) bed in chocloate brown. Yes I know it is a pikey idea, but we like watching movies in bed (steady on) and it is better than having tv on show.

Thinking of a French style shabby chic dressing table, maybe in pewter or gold!
Going for shaggy neutral carpet. Electric roller bling accross the large main window, (2.5m accross) and some dress curtains framing the window. Window is dominant feature as is flor to ceiling and at 2.5M width, is big in the bedroom that is only 4m to the start of the wardrobe.

I got some good tips on the tiling from another thread, going for a beige tile with either glass mosaic accents and stripes, ot a "striped tile" stripe.

So main help is with colours and papers to tie things together.

I would go and look around as many stores as you can to get ideas.
You know what you like, so you are half way there?
Just thunk on what you will save on skinny latte if you don't employ one

DON'T DO IT!!!!

Females are a different breed all together! No matter how much heart & Soul you put into the final week she will be disappointed! She "WILL" pick up on something at some point!

I can feel your pain as you want to surprise her, but imagine more pain ripping up the stuff "she" doesn't like!

IMHO!

hahah! In truth, there is not much stuff to actualy buy, furnishing wise, and paint can always be changed!

I need curtains and or wallpaper for a "feature wall", paint colour (s) and a dressing table. Carpet, well we'd already picked some so I will get something similar.

So she could rip down the curtains I suppose!

Don't forget that you will need somewhere in the region of 5000 scatter cushions.
I'm sure they breed in our house, can't sit down for the poxy bloody things which apparently 'look pretty'
