So my flat has a couple of 4 pin cfl light fittings, which only take bulbs that cost a fortune are are almost impossible to get hold of in any local shop, one of the bulbs failed the other day, so I went on the hunt and finally found one in a Wilkinsons nearby. Only to find out that it isn't the bulb that is blown, the whole fitting seems to be screwed. Whatever bulb i put in there flashes on and off every half second or so.
I'm assuming there is nothing fancy with these type of fittings and I can just buy a fitting that holds normal bulbs and swap it over, so I can get rid of these horrendous "energy saving" pieces of s
t for good? I've read somewhere that the fittings have the starters in them rather than in the bulb or some such nonsense, but I have no idea what that means
Please bear in mind that and work don to replace the fitting will need to be undertaken by a complete idiot.

Yup pendants, so should be easy, just wanted to check there isn't anything crazy i need to know about.
And sure I could buy the bulbs on ebay, but i'm past that stage now, the fitting is bust in some way so if i need to open it up and fix it or replace it, then i'm going back to proper bulbs that actually let you see what you are doing

plus 60 seconds to fit. Switch off the power first, mind!
