Painting New Plaster
Discussion
The plastering I have had done is now dry - I have left it for 7 days to be sure.
I plan to use white emulsion / water mix about 50/50 to seal the wall - will put on a couple of coats.
Now, the part that I am slightly concerned about is the next prep.
I want to then use some oil based paint to give the walls an egg shell finish, so should I then use a PVA solution to ensure the best adhesion?
Many Thanks for your advice.

No.
Don't use PVA - it has no place in painting
(wallpapering, yes. Just not painting)
After you've given the plaster a few coats of matt emulsion (nice to see someone doing a 'mist' coat properly
) you can then use the eggshell straight on.
Unless you have a particular reason not to use acrylic eggshell, then I would use that as opposed to oil eggshell.
It's just as good and won't stink for weeks after and dries very quickly.
Use a nice short, good quality synthetic roller sleeve (not a Wilkinsons special) and a good synthetic bristl brush to minimise brush lines.
And don't do it when it's very warm.

So my list:
Emulsion for the mist coat
Acrylic eggshell
NO PVA!
I'd start off with something like a 25-30% paint to water mix & then increase it as the 2nd & 3rd coat go on.
