My gf has decided that we need to get rid of the artex the previous owners had done in one room on ceiling. Is the new pollycell stuff any good or should we board it like a local plasterer recommends?
Anyone used this method?
Polycel is usually expensive crap.Anyone used this method?
If it's good, then it's still expensive.
If you want to fill, use warm water artex.
If you want to skim, use plaster (but learn to mix and use it)
Before either clean it and use PVA to make it stick....
I'd also listen to your plasterer.

Artex can be removed with a steamer but it is hard work!
Be careful though as some early artex contained asbestos.IMO the person who invented Artex should be beat to death with an cut-out of their own product.

I've got quite a lot to deal with in the loft conversion of my place.

Don't under any circumstances buy Smoothover.
It will cost as much as a spread and the result will be terrible.
I charge about £150 for an average ceiling.

I agree I hate the stuff, thankfully none in my new house!
