I'm getting rid of some rubbish from the house, so I've had a skip parked on the drive. Twice in three days I've had to chase off what I thought were tinkers, but they're blockers.

The first was at 11.30pm - two of them. I caught one trying the garage door.

Now again, this morning, Transit van pulls up at 7.00am. One gets out and walks straight up to the skip and starts to have a rummage.

Very considerate of them. Even to go as far as checking my garage.

I seem to post this on every thread like this, but it really wouldnt bother me too much if I was checking it out. You get more room to put more in. Where I live im sure a much bigger problem would be everyone else coming to put some crap in it!

The problem I have with it is one coming at midnight (and having a go at the garage) and the other turning up at 7am.

How is trying the garage door connected to the skip?

We get tinkies driving around the place all the time looking for scrap. They pick up anything from washing machines to old fencing. Makes plenty room for more stuff but I think the garage door was a chancing bd

....if it's in the skip it's obviously no use to you.....so what's the problem?......it's just giving you more room in the skip.....OK I suppose the should not come onto your drive but never the less they are doing you a favour in the long run.

My theory on this is that putting stuff out for people to take ( alot of folk seem to do this ) is a bit like putting food out for the magpies then wondering why all the eggs keep getting nicked from your hen coup.

It's the only way to be sure, otherwise they're like the Sand People - they scare easily, but will be back and in greater numbers.
