How to get butter off paint...
Discussion
I realise this is odd, but a couple of my flatmates, while fairly drunk, started having a food fight and ended up throwing some butter which hit a wall. I don't really see why but anyway...
There are now stains on the paint, I assume from the grease, is there any way to get this off or is it a case of repainting?
Thanks

^^^ What he said. If the walls are painted with a vinyl emulsion you make get away with a good clean with a detergent. If the paint is just a regular emulsion the grease will come through. Nip to B&Q and buy a can of stain stop, spray or paint over the cleaned stain and re-apply emulsion. Pass receipt plus invoice for your time to drunken friends.
anything oil based will cover it, do it all the time in work, even just a tester of cheapo gloss, just let it dry properly before u touch up otherwise it will repel the emulsion
but yea, undercoat, primer, gloss, satinwood, eggshell, anything oil based
this is because it causes a barrier between the stain and the fresh paint, water based stains are the worst, as emulsion is water based it reactivates the stain, so oil based just seals it
