I realise this is odd, but a couple of my flatmates, while fairly drunk, started having a food fight and ended up throwing some butter which hit a wall. I don't really see why but anyway...

There are now stains on the paint, I assume from the grease, is there any way to get this off or is it a case of repainting?

Thanks smile

^^^ What he said. If the walls are painted with a vinyl emulsion you make get away with a good clean with a detergent. If the paint is just a regular emulsion the grease will come through. Nip to B&Q and buy a can of stain stop, spray or paint over the cleaned stain and re-apply emulsion. Pass receipt plus invoice for your time to drunken friends.

anything oil based will cover it, do it all the time in work, even just a tester of cheapo gloss, just let it dry properly before u touch up otherwise it will repel the emulsion smile

but yea, undercoat, primer, gloss, satinwood, eggshell, anything oil based

this is because it causes a barrier between the stain and the fresh paint, water based stains are the worst, as emulsion is water based it reactivates the stain, so oil based just seals it

hehe Been lurking around a bit recently, finally finished uni and am now in the big scary world!

Thanks for the tips, I'll pass them on. Its a rented flat so not sure if touching up will stand out a lot!
