Storage Container
Discussion
Will be embarking on an extension project and have a need to store some appliances and furniture whilst the building work is in progress. We will not need access to the contents during work. Any advice as to which of the following makes the most sense both from a practical and cost perspective?
1) Hire a small container and keep in the garden. As we would like to site it in rear garden can they be lifted over 6ft wall? Any idea of cost of a 10ft container?
2) Rent space in somewhere like Big Yellow although this will require us renting van to move and then collect the stuff.
3) any alternative options?
Live near Guildford so would appreciate if anybody can recommend any companies to approach.

Container unit is not that expensive. I ended up hiring 2 from Access Storag in Slyfield when I moved house. At the time they did some sort of offer where you got 2 months for the price of 1. Some also throw in day's van hire into the equation too, although a Transit can be had for about £75 ish a day from recollection.

Thanks will check them outJust in the middle of similar.
20' with end access doors. Cost £50+VAT delivery and then same on collection with weekly rental of £5.95+VAT. It is watertight and level with no condensation issues.
Getting it over a 6' wall should be no issue if sufficient swing room.
Priced the self store places and van hire, etc. In the end Mastcabs was an easy decision.

Just out of interest, what sort of price are these things to buy? E.g. a 20 foot, ply-lined container as secure storage for household effects whilst we renovate?
Steve
Price varies a lot to buy BUT I calculated payback to be about year and a half when comparing buy (preowned and tatty!) versus rent. Steve
Renting at ~£6/week is a bargain in my book PLUS at the end of period, they take it away.

Good, clean ones are over a £1000, then start to add in delivery, plylining, locks, etc
