Just wondered if anyone can help - our dish washer if not working. It turns on and makes the right kind of noise but no water seems to be coming out and it starts to smell of rubber (only slightly). Could it be limescale? Any ideas? S

Have you checked the obvious? Is the water tap open to the machine, quite easy to switch off if moving stuff about in the cupboard.

Limescale shouldn't just stop the inflow of water, also the input should be at mains pressure so shouldn't clog up as badly.

Have you checked there is water coming in the inlet pipe i.e. is the mains tap on? is the water coming out of the washer end of the pipe? If its making the right noises it sounds like the pump is running to call for the water.

The inlet will run from the mains, normally under the sink, but if you pull machine out you should be able to trace it back. it may be on a Y piece in with the washing machine depending on how it was plumbed in.
