Basically I have had some Lino fitted to our kitchen, and I always believed this would then be glued down to the floor.

I haven`t handed over the money yet, and it appears the lino isn`t fixed to the floor, which I doubt is correct.

How should Lino be fitted ?

Just wanted to make sure I wasn`t being stupid before I speak to the guy.

They usually use a glue they call screed. On a floor boarded base I'd put down a plywood 'skin' over the floor boards then apply screed while laying floor, on concrete / over old tiles thy would probably just screed. I'm not sure how a pro would do it but I think they usually use the screed to stop it lifting, seems odd that they wouldn't and they need a decent surface to apply the screed to so perhaps this was an issue?

Is it Lino as in Nairns Lino or cushion floor?

If it's genuine Lino it should be stuck down with a recommended Lino paste, if it's cushion floor it can be loose laid or stuck with a spray adhesive, tackifier or even double sided tape etc.
Screed is a levelling compound not an adhesive.

Or vinyl?

Vinyl is quite thin and if not glued down you can sometimes feel hollows underneath; real linoleum is very heavy and would probably stay where put, and even mould itself to the shape of the floor after a while.

The lino goes across two rooms, one side with a wood floor had ply laid and the other concrete floor had a screed layer put down.

I believe it may be cushioned back, so potentially then doesn`t need glue or any other adhesive.

It hasn`t moved or shifted, it was just when I had the vacuum cleaner on it, I was lifting it up off the floor !!
