Been contacted by the above based in Beaumont Leys, Leicester. regarding up-grading my loft insulation.
There 'suveyor' is coming in June to see the property. Now I'am a chartered building surveyor so will be checking very carefully what said.
Just thought and post to see if anyone as used the company and any feed-back.

Cheers

Just wondering if you had the survey done by these guys? I'm considering a whole house insulation after discovering some damp in my garage - which clearly harbours my pride and joy (don't tell the wife she's listed in second!). Wondered if they were any good?

I had cavity wall insulation installed by them. They guys seemed very professional and hardworking, and that seemed to go well (although, short of knocking the walls down or thermographic imaging, you can't tell). However, I left them to it and went to work and when I got home they had gone but made a complete mess of pointing up the external holes in the brickwork (house is part rendered). Despite my not paying them due to the mess, a visit from a manager and promises of remedial works, nothing ever happened - they sent me the warranty documents, so a result of sorts, but one day I will need to pay to have someone come and tidy up the brickwork.

Hi Guys, though nobody had uaed them. However had the survey carried out and there coming 28/06/10 to install the loft insulation, live in a grade 2 mill so solid walls and no option for wall insulation.

Will let you know how we get on.

Insulation won't cure damp. Indeed, it may make it worse.

It's not got much to do with the need for speed - unless there's some damp threatening your pride and joy of course DIY Derek! - but I had a survey done a while back and insulation can actually PREVENT the transfer of moisture; it's generally a poorly installed damp course that leads to damp, or the construction of the property that's to blame. Either way, insulation does not cause damp.

They must have missed out part of the presentation about interstitial condensation then.

Well I'am now insulated by min 300 Rockwool throughout the roof space. job well done but did'nt expect the guy (yes one) knocking on the door at 7.00am, Still only took him hour to lay the extra insulation.

Cheers Tom
