We had fun with SEB/SEC digging up our drive last night to repair a blown mains cable which, we think, has been causing us trouble (trips blowing etc) for the last week or so. Well, when we had the final big bang last night, it appears that our satelitte reciever box bore the brunt of it and is now dead with a funny electrical smell.

Do we have any re-course to the electric board? We can't prove it but it would be remarkable coincedence that the two things happened together. Don't want mega compensation or 'owt but something towards a new box would be nice.

Thanks

Hannah

Is it a Sky receiver? Even though it's probably a cable fault Sky will often replace boxes FOC if you are a premium channel subscriber, although you might have to pay £30, it seems to be random! Certainly don't pay the £60 they will ask at first, say you want to cancel and will go with Freeview and they will fold.

edit: If it's non-Sky and if you have to pay then I think they will have a form to fill out and it will get looked at by somebody along with the repair details.

Thanks, its a non-Sky box so will have to try to claim it back. Thats if I don't loose my patience with the 'we are currently experiencing high volumes of calls....' message!
