Go on guess.

Plaster (or skim) me parts of 2 walls in the kitchen with a total size of about, if I'm generous, 2.5 sq metres. There are 4 light switches/sockets to disconnect and plaster behind, and of course you'll have to lay down sheets to protect the kitchen.

Nothing needed other than your time and some plaster...start at 8am and finish at (say) 1:00pm again being generous with the hours.

Bear in mind we're in a recession...I've had 5 quotes for this 5 hour job...so go on guess...

I'd go as high as 350-400 it depends on whether they want the job or not

If they don't really fancy it they might be pushing the envelope to see if it can be made worth their while

Have the plasterers said it will take 5 hours or are you 1 of those people that assume they know how long a job will take despite having no experience of an industry? We have a load of those on our books, they do my head in

Well I was £600 to plaster my living room, and stick up some coving. And a further £300 for my bedroom (discounted as it was my 2nd room)....so I reckon £250

£500, £100 per hour, for such a small area, I wouldn't do it for less either.

The cheapest was £280.

Pro-rata for an 8 hour day, 5 day week, 52 week year thats £116,480 per annum

And he was the cheapest.

The most expensive quote was £510.

My flabber is gasted.

I'm looking at evening courses as we speak...

I am guessing your plumber would have t be good at plastering, which mig ht add to the cost, but ill guess at 350 quid

just to piss you off - our plasterer comes and works for us at 80 quid a day. granted we have to buy the materials and put our own sheets down....

but i'm guessing your quote didn't come in at £40?

Except there is a big difference between turnover and profit and they will not be getting paid 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
