Lots of Big Fish - House Sold - Problem...
Discussion
Afternoon chaps...
My garden is basically a pond and I've sold the house based on the understanding that I will remove the fish (the buyers are filling in the hole). I've asked around and advertised locally but can't seem to give them away. There's about 15 koi ranging in size up to about 20", a few ghost carp and lots of various goldfish.
I don't want anything for them just so long as they go to a good home. Anyone got any ideas? They have to be gone by 10th May

Many thanks
Dan

Lovely pond and what a lot of fish. Good luck. I'd offer to take some as we have a koi pond but we don't have capacity for that many and the logistics of quarantine and transportation are complicated. You just need to find the right person though as that lot are worth a fair chunk of cash. Have you spoken to local koi centres etc?
Alternatively will you have a pond built at the new place? If so would the buyers of your current place let you leave them until you've had it built?

I have to ponds about 2500 gallons capacity with full filtration and airation. Covered with wire to keep the heron at bay .... Will have to quarenteen them for 48hrs but thats no issue.
I have two ponds.
A smaller 400 gallon one for the smaller fish.
The larger one over 2000 gallons and 5 foot deep has the bigger Koi and other fish. One Orf which I have had for years. Plus a big 2 foot black/copper Koi (Jaws)

Thanks for help! Made a trip to local garden centre who put me in touch with a man that can. His neighbour is having the 3 biggest ones and the rest are going to be re-homed in a lake at Basingstoke cemetery... sounds morbid but will hopefully give people a bit of joy.
I would have loved to have taken them with me but I'm going to be renting for a while until I find somewhere. I shall miss them though, the biggest ones are about 18yrs old and I've had them since they were about 3" long...
Thanks again

I was going to say eBay but they don't allow live things.
Must be some Koi fans in your area - maybe Google for a Club?
Strangely enough there are loads of koi for sale on ebay.. not sure how they get 'round that one...Must be some Koi fans in your area - maybe Google for a Club?
Not to worry though, as mentioned above, all sorted now and homes found for all of them. One less thing to worry about!!
Thanks again everyone

I hope you didn't give them away - Koi are worth thousands!
These aren't worth anything really - originally just small chaps from the garden centre. They've given me years of enjoyment which is worth more than anything so just happy they are going to a good home. No doubt I will miss them and have to start again at some point but maybe I'll find someone in the same position as I'm in now and be able to help them out!!Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
