Our pond has a water feature whereby water is pumped out of the pond by a Hozelock Cascade pump into a filter box about 2 feet above water level, where gravity does the rest and it runs down a concrete slope into the pond.

Yesterday we put the pump back on and this morning the pond was down 10".

It seems to tie in with the pump being on, there's no clear leak in the hose to the box, or the box itself, but there is a crack in the concrete slope - it doesn't look huge but I expect with fairly low water flow that over 24 hours much more is going into it than looks obvious.

So, how to fix it?

I'm assuming the cheapest fix is going to be either a bag of concrete or a tin of shed roof paint (not sure exactly what this is called but it's like liquid fiber glass)?

Any suggestions - you can probably tell I'm not a seasoned DIY-er.

Has your concrete been sealed as well? From memory i used exterior varnish which seemed to do the trick. Try filling the hole with cement, let it dry then paint the whole lot, plus 1" up any side walls with outdoor use varnish. If there is any fish in your water feature then you may want to check other replies first!

No idea whether it's been sealed I'm afraid, and no fish in there it's just a chute so when the pump is off (as it is now) it dries up pretty quickly.
