Smeg fridge light blub change, any help ?
Discussion
Hello guys at the inlaws and have been tasked with the job of changing the interior light on there lovely looking but generally crap fridge, the light is on the right hand side and is boxed in a plastic case, I can;t see a easy way of getting the case off without brute force, any tips or online videos etc ?
Cheers

if the link works, page 14 shows you how to get the cover off

Here is another link and is a tad more detailed than Matt's link (I think) and if the fridge is nearly new, would check that the door switch is actually working properly. Evidently, this seems to be a problem with Smegs, where the light does not go out when the door is closed and, hence early failure of the bulb.
Matt that is great, thankyou very much.
One problem, it lies ! it makes out you squeeze here and pull there and it pops off, well I squeezed there and pulled here and nearly ripped the fcker completely apart, how cheap plastics can feel so flimsy in your hand yet grip each other with the power of a hippo jaw is beyond me.
I will endevor to dismantle it.
Thankyou matt for doing the research I seemed to inapt at.

Apararently doing the same thing expectig a diferent outcome is not insanity, it worked !!!!
Right I am going to give you the secret tip ! Put your hand over the casing and press the back of the light cover with three fingers, now it isn;t about force, you have to work you fingers and the case from top to bottom ( press with your ring finger, then middle finger then index then back again ) all the while gentle gripping the case with you little finger and thumb and pulling away, "waving" your fingers distorts the shape and hopefully you will unhook one of the two plastic claws and the things just comes off dead easy in you hand.
Took about 30secs to a minute of just gentley teasing it, but it works.
Thankyou very much Matt and Robin, got me many brownie points.
So the nest bit is for any one else searching on this topic in the future.
