Oil Fired Boiler Question
Discussion
Hi,
we have a Worcester boiler for heating and water as part of our Aga. Over the last few days the boiler has randomly stopped coming on when the timer kicks in, there is a little red button on the thermostat box which pops out.
If I push this back in the boiler starts up and works normally. After it completes its cycle it switches back off and it seems pot luck if it starts up on time next time.
A quick question; am I likely to do damage by simply pressing the red button? I am assuming it is a fairly minor issue as this switch never trips out when running, just when starting up.

It's the overheat thermostat.
It means that the control thermostat isn't controlling the boiler's temperature correctly.
It's either:
A faulty control thermostat,
A tired pump, or
A lack of water in the system...I reckon.
You can keep pressing it to reset if you like, but you need to sort it out.
