What else is on the spur? I'd guess a spur out to have a 13a fuse (or 32a on the ring).
Try putting the drier into a direct ring socket, and checking the current draw.
Fused spur has 13 amp fuse which keeps blowing , plugged machine into another socket via extension lead and blew the fuse in that so now plugged into same socket without a "fused" extension lead and still working .Try putting the drier into a direct ring socket, and checking the current draw.
a 13a fuse should run a 3kw load, the dryer should be between 2300 and 2800w (it will tell you on the rating plate.
Check the electric meter with the dryer off to get your base load, turn the dryer on and check again. The load should go up by the rating on the plate. If it goes up by more the dryer is probably faulty, don't use it, return it. If not a wiring fault like poor connection in the spur putting extra load, which equals heat.
Don't run it overnight, and make sure your smoke alarms work, if its wiring. Get it checked.
