I've just tiled the splashback and grouted it, but there are two edges either side where it meets teh paint and unsure how to finish. I've siliconed the top where they meet the cupboards.

Should I grout the edge, silicone or something else?

Sarah - not being funny, but 99.999999% of your posts relate to DIY. Are you sure PH is the best site for your needs??

Ah! Should have used a finishing edge strip when fixing the tiles to the wall. It just presses into the tile adhesive when fixing the last tile/s. They come in different colours to match the grout/tiles and are made of plastic and easily cut to length.

You could buy some and cut off the bit that goes behind the tile and fix to the edge of the tile with tile adhesive or, take the last line of tiles off, scrape old adhesive off and re-fix with edge strip.

That was my thought too - or just buy quadrant moulding.

I think Sarah is DIYing because she's single because no man can compete!

To answer a few posts in one go...

Why are you surprised from my profile that I need to DIY... I'm intrigued!

I used edging trim for where I had to go over some boxing in, but it's not attractive and I'm sure even silicone would look better. Do you folks really think this isa bad idea?

Re: 99.9% of my posts being DIY related... I do love cars and bought a sports car a couple of years back, but joined when I had a query regarding a notchy gearchange, but it sorted itself out. Nothing else has gone wrong... yet :-O

Is it really that obvious that I'm single - I've never been out with a man who's any use at all at DIY anyway!

Back to the question: I recently tiled over my half tiled bathroom. This left an edge of about half an inch; too thick to use tile edging so I just painted it in with the wall colour. Didn't look too bad at all, though I might just put some of those small edging-tiles on in the future. HTH.

If the tiles are un-cut edges then I wouldnt bother using anything to edge them, just paint up to the tile edge.

Yes - they're "Metro" style tiles and I ensured the outeredges are all uncut. They're also tapered, so tie trim would look ghastly. Do you think it's better to paint up to them or caulk them?

I would run a seam of tile grout down them with my finger then simply wipe it back like you will do for grouting the tiles and then paint up to it.

I think he means you are an attractive lady, so why would you need to DIY when you could ask a any number of men, probably all of them on here!

Secondly I thought you said you had a sports car? It says Mazda RX8 in your profile... hehe

Phew, I thought I was going to be in trouble...

But yes, it means I can make a kitchen and take a photo of it biggrin This is one wot I made earlier:

I'm not a fan of tiles so had a glass splashback made. Very easy to fit - sealant on back - bosh!

The thing is - we'd start bickering over the best way to sharpen a chisel...
