Lots of people dismiss these as chav, bad taste, peasant-like but it really cheers me up. Firstly as the nights get darker and gloomier they brighten up the drive home. Secondly it is a countdown to a break from work and being able to see my family and spend time with judas. All in all I like them.

Those two are amusing though!

When its tastefully done and when care has been taken to make it look good I have no problems.

Unfortunately, most of the houses you see in the UK seem to have had the contents of the nearest Homebase frisbee'd at it and it just looks a garish mess.

If people want to pay the leccy to entertain others then let them.
Tasteless or not, there is nothing you can do.

Are the best ones the ones the most garish though?

There's a house near me with every kind of illuminated flashing Christmas decoration imaginable and sure it's not attractive but everyone seems to love it. People even take their children to see it as some kind of local attraction.

It doesn't take a lot to please idiots.

There's one round the corner from me. It's completely and utterly ridiculous and I feel sorry for anyone living across from them.

There's one near us, with a gazillion lights outside, moving Santas, little trains that run around the garden, and some collection box for charity, but there is also a Ferrari and a BMW 4x4 parked in the drive, of this 5 bed semi, so it is all rather strange.

But still, we make the trip to see it every year, with Princess Herald in tow. biggrin

Who cares? Doesn't float my boat but seems to cheer people up. This country is full of s***t, why rain on a perfectly innocent parade?

Im happy with it on other peoples houses, it always raises a smile whether tasteful or otherwise. On the other hand the lazy good for nothings that leave them up all year should be put down!

You'd need a very very small van for that to be a "van load" as the seller claims!

On a depressing note there are lots of nasty people that go around stealing displays from outside people's houses in the early hours of the morning. No doubt these end up in the local market/bootsale/fleabay.

Well, they filled the short wheelbase transit van in which the buyer arrived to collect them.

They are now going to bring comfort and cheer to the streets of Wrexham.

Ho ho fking ho ....
