Markets used to be good for that sort of thing. Find the market in the nearest big city and there's bound to be a place selling it.

As an aside, foam comes in different densitys - make sure you get the right stuff otherwise it will either be too hard, or pretty ineffective.

was going to suggest the market, but also downmarket department stors such as boyes etc. think 'where do old people buy tat' and there'll be foam for sale.

If not the market try a haberdashery or possibly a fabric/curtain type shop.

Find a furniture maker local to you.
For instance, Norian in Bridgwater make all the futons for the home delivery catalogues. You've never seen so much foam! Once you find somewhere suitable tell them it's for a repair and see if they'll give you some offcuts. If not they would proably do a rreasonable cash sale for you.
hth.

I didn't think you were! I just wish they have them down south, they just don't have those kind of cheapy shops in the Royal County of Berkshire. The amount of times I've waited until I've gone home to visit the folks to buy stuff that I know I can get in Boyes!

Take a look int he "cheaper end of town" in Taunton i know of a foam shop just off the main drag, it's cheap and has loads of thicknesses, densities and sizes. reasonably priced too.
