My tuppence worth?

A joiner will cost a lot, use a fitted bedroom company instead.

My brother just got a side wall run that leads to a run along the wall where the bed is, with nicely placed lights and matching bedside cabs for under 3 grand. This is a lot of wardrobes and it was all done in piano gloss wood.

I used to work for Sharps bedrooms as a fitter but the pay is piss poor, I could earn more on my own but the work is harder to find.
On my own I used to charge between £100 & £150 a day depending on the work and distance I needed to travel (I would travel all over UK) but that was 5 years ago as I now build trailers.
The other way is price work but they would need to see the job and work it out.
If the job might take say, a day and you can get the materials in and up the stairs, then a day rate is a good option for you, plus, with a day rate, you can chop and change things as the fitter goes along (to a certain extent) but when on price work the aim for the fitter is to get the job done quickly with no fuss and get paid and home but still to having done a good job for you.

Hope this helps.

Our bedroom is in the loft and at one end the ceiling slopes following the roofline. Its about 3 to 4ft deep and about 7 or 8ft across.I guess it just needs a framework with some doors.Maybe a rail and a few shelves inside.

Hi

Have you considered a pair of custom mirror doors. Can be very effective and increase light in the room too.

we did a loft conversion last year, and for two sloped sides, got the joiners to put in top and bottom timber rail supports then got mirror doors with chrome surrounds and rails made to measure. Just fitted hanging rails behind and space for a couple of large chest of drawers.

If you want I can take and post photo to give you an idea.

We paid about £18/hr for the joiners for house renovation.

Ive god a really good joiner, who did pretty much all the joinery on our selfbuild. Nice guy, reliable and cheap. Dont quote me but figure on around £140 a day with the average size bedroom taking 2-3 days

Hes just about to do me a fitted bedroom for a fraction of the cost that the main companies are charging using this stuff called "fixboard" (available from the Builder Centre) http://www.fixboard.se/eng/index.html.

Based in Wrexham but Im sure he'd travel to Middlewich area. PM me if you want his details
