So are Lidl. Shame energy saving lightbulbs are dreadful at actually lighting anything though.
I agree they aren't very bright but as they are 'energy saving, and 10p each you can have more switched on!If Lidl are doing them as well does it mean that Philips has made a load they can't shift at normal prices?
BTW I'm sure I didn't click twice so I don't know how this topic comes up twice.
But it could be my fault - SWMBO is ill and I've been to a supermarket, been in the kitchen and cooked!

It's not that they can't sell them- it's because they want rid of them before the ban comes into place- think larger wattages have already been removed from sale
its the new bulbs theyre selling 5 of for 50p, supermarkets are allowed to take as long as they want to sell through their remaining stock of the old style filament bulbs.deevlash said:

I bought some actual proper 100 watt bulbs at the car boot sale last weekend, my eyesight should be safe for another winter!
I calculated how many proper (ie tungsten filament) 60W and 100W lamps I'd need to last for the rest of my life, then went and cleaned out a cash and carry and a hardware store. So I shall never need to buy another lightbulb ever again
I also have some packs of 100W lamps spare, waiting for the time they're worth £10 each on the black market in the forthcoming new 'dark ages'

(NB: For any tree huggers who may have strayed into ths thread looking for something to keep them self-righteously outraged, my 'carbon footprint' is far smaller than most families' - indeed when they set up carbon trading on a domestic basis I hope to make a bit more loot that way!)
