lounge being tanked
Discussion
Having the front lounge "tanked",the walls are being renderd to 1mtr in hight, once it is done we are looking at sealing the cotwold stone brickwork above this to prevent the stone losing dust, what product do we use?dont want shiney finish, matt would be fine.
also how do we restore the red brick fireplace which has had damp rising in it,it has left a mouldy bloom on the bricks, would like a matt finish to seal the bricks to prevent dust fall off.

I did this in my lounge too. My company does this sort of work.
I hacked of about 750mm high, injected a dpc at the bottom and Sika-1 rendered with board finish plaster on top(not taken down to the floor).
I didn't put anything on the outside but an acrylic based sealer would be fine at the right dosage (penetrates into brick but you can't really see it).
Problem is you want to let the wall still breathe, ie don't totally seal it in. The above products will allow this.
It's worked in my lounge, which my neighbours tell me has been damp since God was a boy and lots of people have tried and failed to remedy.
I'm currently doing the hall and dining room the same.
