Around 3 years ago I paid £200 to get an aerial fitted, a signal splitter box in the loft and booster box fitted which served the lounge, kitchen and 2 bedrooms.

Not long ago we dog sat a puppy who was great, until he chewed through the wire to the booster box and bust the signal.

Since then, I've bought and returned 3 seperate signal booster boxes. None of which have worked.

I got a quote to have the whole thing checked and he wanted another £200. I'm tempted to do the work myself and wanted to know if anyone had any info on how to check the wiring and getting the signal to run again.

Any links would be perfect.

Have you replaced the chewed section of cable? There could be short circuit in there causing the problem.

Yeah, the chewed section was on the power plug to the booster box. I've tried 3 others (including the exact same make/model of boosetr box) and none of them work. A short circuit is the only logical explanation.

Got an SLX 4B 4-way amplifier in the loft with input from UHF and VHF aerials. Does analogue and digital terrestial without any problems. Certainly sounds like a wiring fault rather than the equipment.

Could it be that your booster box is not actually a booster box at all? It could be the power supply to your mast head amplifier, they look exactly like a booster box wink
