I have been repainting my porch as it was varnished and I am changing it to white with a blue door. The porch is no problem, but I am having problems with painting the door. I am using Dulux Weathershield top coat with their recommended grey undercoat. I used International primer to paint the stripped door. The first coat of undercoat went on fine and I sanded it down in prep for the second coat as instructed. I finished painting the second coat on Sat at 12.30 pm and left it to dry outside lying flat on a couple of sawhorses. By 8.30pm it had started to rain which wasn't too bothered about as the drying time is 4 hours. The following day I repositioned the door to make sure it fitted ok as I needed to plane a few bits off. However I discovered that the paint was still soft and in fact hadn't dried completely a day later. I checked it this morning and it is finally getting hardbiggrin Question is: would the rain have caused the problem, and how do I recover the situation. Can I just sand it down once its dry or do you think the paint might be damaged.
Sorry for the ramble.

If the rain hasn't pitted the undercoat, then it should be OK. Even when pitted, it's usually just a matter of sanding and applying the next/finish coat. Paint never really hardens, but stays pliable. When it does harden 'tis time for repainting.

Only thing to add: Next time, use the Weathershield primer if you are using their U/C and gloss. It really is good stuff.
