Are they taking the ****?!!
Discussion
A few years ago our council started a recycling scheme and we were all given different boxes for paper/glass/plastic etc... We duely seperated the different colours of glass and sorted paper from plastic as we were told the materials/colours couldn't be mixed.
Now we have a green wheelie bin which we have to fill with all recyclables. Every 2 weeks it is collected and tipped into a lorry accompanied by the sound of breaking glass. Am I to believe that they actually employ people to separate the shards of glass from the paper and plastic or do they (as I suspect) just bung it all in a nice big hole in the ground?!!

If you squeeze your head through the holes in a multi-coloured glass bottle skip, you'll notice that all the holes go into the same big skip inside, not separate sub-skips.Now we have a green wheelie bin which we have to fill with all recyclables. All these recycling/carbon footprint/terrorist threat plans are simply control tools used by the government to keep the ignorant masses under the thumb.
Governments don't like democracy. They don't want it. They want dictatorships, where they make the decisions, not uneducated peasants voting on what they think is best for the country, thus they like to keep us all under the impression they are guiding us to a better world.
In reality they are all on power trips, doing their best to make a fortune whilst boosting their little egos. We all used to play war games at junior school, we all got into gang fights and stuff, the government bods are still doing it.
Or I could just be delusional?
A similar question got asked about the change from multiple recycling bins to a single one at a site I worked at. The response from the "corporate social responsability team" was that the extra effort involved in collecting the multiple bins is actually more expensive than sorting it later.

I hope you don't mind me pointing out that if you squeeze your head through the holes in a multi-coloured glass bottle skip, then where the bottles go should be the least of your worries ;-)King Herald said:

I noticed a few weeks back that although we separated our recycling waste, instead of three different collection lorries, we now only have one into which everything is chucked and even compressed. I sent an e-mail to the council asking what was going on and got in reply, an invite to go and visit their sorting facility.

I assume this is where they send people who ask too many questions, so they can be 'sorted' and 'recycled'....Edited by SwanJack on Monday 21st September 09:38
