So...I live in a small community. Not for the first time, we seem to have a problem with preying pikey types...if it isn't bolted down they will take it.

We are not on a main road, so to arrive at our homes has to be a conscious decision, and to rob these homes is obviously a step further.

(Clearly there will be plenty of suggestions regarding retribution, but we are a well armed village who not short of ideas there biggrin)...BUT any recommendations on how we stand up to this as a community, preferably legally? We can lock everything down, but in the real world...how do you put these fkers off permanently?

A neighbour watch sign is allegedly a 20% deterrent.... according to a local plod I know. Not sure the validity of this.
Alarms on houses are aparently a good visual way of deterring the casual theif... apart from that, not sure

Charge people £10 to take away their old appliances, then leave them out to be stolen.

Don't do anything to draw attention to your property, Pikeys are like magpies and women - they go for shiny things.

Just keep your property clear and unnasuming, get decent security but massive locks and fences draw attention to the fact you may have shiny things inside.

Wiring your locks/doors into the mains should put off any potential thieving(once the first one touches it).

N.B this is probably illegal as barbequing pikeys is frowned upon.

CCTV can be a huge deterrant. Far better than any burglar alarm if no one is close by

I had a problem with diesel theft from my transport depot.
I fitted a couple of poacher alarms. These fire a blank shotgun cartiridge when a trip wire is activated. Result - f...ing big flash, f...ing big bang. (can be bought online)
These seemed to do the trick.
When one went off it scared the thief stless (and our security bod who was 200yds away) and we havn't seen them since. Security guard called plod who (thankfuly) thought it was all great fun.
Warning - on no account must you use a full shotgun cartridge or you may kill burglar. Oh no.

Oh.

But we do have a gun. Does that cancel it out?

Only if it did more than fire inflatable sex dolls at your neighbours for cutting down the wood.

I had a problem with the metal Porsche crested valve caps on the 911 being nicked.

The fourth set were sharpened, with a file, and smeared with dog sh t.

I enjoyed finding them intact but covered in blood.

Don't be silly, the gun doesn't fire Phillipa. Anyway, she's now hanging from the shed as a creative 'installation' scene... we call it 'we suicide death'....

Tate keep calling.

The gun, we have discovered only has a reach of about 2/3 their garden and sadly loses power before the faux wishing well.

New things that fire things are required.

My old man also managed to get some of these - 'Henry Crank Alarm Mine' I think it was called. Was only set off once... no one ever came back after that!!!

I love this and I am going to buy it. Mr PKM will be utterly delighted.

The only thing that concerns me is the foxes and deer live in the woods surrounding our house who think the garden is a wildlife park. Do you think they would set it off? - I don't want them to be frightened.
