My current washer dryer gave up the ghost today. Its a Bosche WVF2000. A nice machine. It served us well lasting about ten years. It washed both my childrens clothes from new borns.

Now the drum will not turn. I have checked all the parts inside and as far as i can tell its the motor or the program selector. Bosch want £95+vat call out fee before they take a look.

I assume that even if its the most basic parts that are broken a good estimate is about £100 for parts. So all in all at minimum its going to cost me £200. However, the machine shakes violently when it spins and the buttons keep breaking. When i took the lid of this evening, i noticed that the soap drawer is also broken.

So i decided i need to replace it. Reviews suggest that Miele is the best buy. Is it really worth £1k?

I have a new build house - so am limited for space. I need a washer dryer due to the demands of the kids clothes.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Another Bosch one sounds a good bet!

We've got Bosch washer & a Bosch dryer & when they pack up I'll replace with the same.

miele washing machine's have a 10 yr warranty as standard , so that works out at £100 a year for a washing machine over the 10 yrs , not bad really when you think of it that way

Nice repair man from comet recommended a miele after my hotpoint went pear shaped after 2 yrs

He also recommended bosch for the best medium priced machine

I bought bosch for less than £500 with 5yr warranty so that's just under £100 a year as well

pays your money takes your choice as the saying goes thumbup

Thanks for the comments - I bought a Miele washer dryer last night. It will be delivered and fitted today.

After calculatining how much the nearest Bosch machine was and buying the additional garantee (up to five years), it was only a £100 less than the Miele.
