Home security - wireless alarm and cameras
Discussion
OK had a bit of an incident at the weekend which very nearly led to me becoming the new Tony Martin involving chav thief attempting to make off with my bike out of my garage, and me giving chase in my missus' car in bare feet and a dressing gown. I don't want to relive this particularly, as I would have mowed the little fker down and crushed his skull; so I have decided to invest in some more modern and preventative home security.
I was thinking that we need a better alarm as are ripping ours out anyway due to various decoration and renovation we are doing. Think wireless is the best way to go as then can have lots of sensors over the rooms and garage, without extensive installation work and disturbing decoration we have already undertaken in some of the rooms. Anyone found a decent and not astronomically expensive wireless system? Thoughts on this?
Further, more along the preventative line, I want some cameras back and front. I have been doing a bit of hunting around and I reckon IP cameras could be the way to go as I have some kit in the house that could easily act as a streaming destination. Possibly wi-fi would be a good bet, again for lower installation costs. I would want one at the front and one at the back and possibly also with retina-searing security lights. Anyone gone down the camera route and what do you have?
I don't really want to go over a grand for the lot, and if it were possible to get a combined system that does both these things then great.
