Due to lack of space, we are putting a bi-fold door on the downstairs cloakroom, which also has toilet & shower.

A conventional slide-bolt lock will be useless as it will just pull out when the door is pushed, unless it is on the top of the door.

Are there any other alternative solutions?

You put the lock so it slides across the seam in the middle wink

A hook and eyelet type fitting - had one on my bi-fold bathroom door years ago.
B&Q will probably have something sturdy enough smile

Surely that would break off with the most gentle of pushes.

A friend has a lock like this on their folding bathroom doors, it seems study enough.
