I've been offered an F1 rear wheel, and thought I'd turn it into a coffee table.

I've had a quick google, but can anyone point me in the direction of where to get a glass table top that would be suitable?

Anything other than chicken is for chumps.
I swear a chicken pot noodle, no matter how disgusting, will cure any ailment I may have. That's all I have in my medicine cabinet.

Try these people

Glass Bending & Decorating Ltd

Very helpful guys.

they will cut to size bevel the edges and then toughen it. (would only use toughened glass for any table top.)

I'd trawl a few furniture stores, they may have a glass top with a damaged base they'll let you have.

biggrin 10mm toughened should take the weight of a couple of liberally minded girls.

Go to your local glass supplier (the Yellow Pages will have loads) and order a round piece of toughened glass to the size you need with a bevelled edge. For a Formula 1 wheel size table 6 or 8mm toughened will probably be fine. All the toughened glass I’ve ordered for tables has had to have a BS number engraved on it. A good glass supplier will be able to engrave the BS number on the actual bevelled edge so you barely notice it but the piece of glass still complies with the regs.

I once saw some very disturbing pictures of my ex-boss and a glass table. She was about 22 stone and was squatting over the top of aforementioned table, errr, curling one off I believe is the correct expression. Her skinny 7 stone runt of a boyfriend was lying underneath. No amount of toughening would have saved his ass had her squat failed!
