Pretty dull question I knw, but I'm trying to get hold of one, but I've only got 30 inches of space where it will tow in the olft and so far I'v only been ale to find ones that need 44" I an't mount it on a different side due to access from the hall below. Has anyone had a similar problm and overcome it?

I had a similar problem last year. DOn´t know the measurements, but Wickes did a 3 piece ladder for 54.99 which we got and did a cracking job.

You can ones that sit on top of the loft hatch and don't need any room above for clearance. I thikn I saw them in B&Q when I bought my el-cheapo aluminium one.

An option would be a Concertina Loft Ladder which sits across the opening

Store

I had one of these in my cottage and it was excellant and gave a very stable ascent/descent.

Also there are folding wooden ones

Cheers for that, think I'll have to get one! smile Just need to re-measure the headroom and work out if we've got any clearance in the loft.. or if we have to go for a zero clearance one. I notice the first link also has "tele loft" ladders as well, which may well do the job.

ETA : and hatch dimensions..
