So whats the best way to go hiring a skip? i've gone through a few sites but a lot of them seem to be brokers, or don't have any prices on their sites. Do skip prices fluctuate that much?

Appreciate any company recommendations for London - also how much should I be looking to pay for an 8 yard skip (on my driveway?)

cheers

Play the game - ring a few for a ball park figure. Then take off at least 25% and ring them back and say "so and so offered it for £xx"

Dont bother trying to hire a skip via the internet - just pick up the phone and use a copy of yellow pages.

As said use the yellow pages.
A good friend of mine runs a few skip lorries, he took on some jobs from a broker then 3 months later they went bust owing him a few k. The problem then came when the customer wanted him to pick up the skip and he had not been paid for it!!
Just phone around and offer cash (Should knock off the VAT!!) but for a 8 yard expect to pay around the £180 mark!!

If your just loading and taking away, i.e. within a couple of days

May be more cost effective to hire a van, assuming your local recycling centre (tip) will take vans without charging.

Will take a bit longer and more lifting but typically will be half the price

What he said. Old fashioned yellow pages, ring round a few.
