LED light help
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
Have been thinking for a while about swapping my existing 12v halogen bulbs at home for LED ones. As they light the hall ways stairs and kitchen I am guesing I would need the high power 5w ones.
What are the pitfalls for the swap ie do I need to change the transformer or can I just leave 1 halogen in to up the draw (there are about 4 or 5 powered by 1 tranformer), also where is the cheapest place to get them as they are very expensive, and do they give off enough light?
Thanks in advance,
Peter

Dont do it. They're rubbish.
But if you really want to do it, it will depend on the lamps you go for. Are the Halogens 50mm 50W? Some LED lamps will run from an existing transformer whilst others will need a "driver" to be fitted in place of the transformer.
Light output from them is really not very good.
