We need(well, want!) a floating shelf for our sink in the ensuite, the thing is the villeroy and boch one to match our sink and taps is £340! (here http://www.bathsource.co.uk/acatalog/Villeroy_Boch_Memento_countertop_900_x_110_x_525mm.html )
Which seems alot of money for a bracket and a fake wood shelf!
Do people know of any alternatives to buy that will be strong enough to support a sink (and someone leaning on it!)
Does anyone know what kind of brackets these V&B shelves have, thinking they must be extreemely strong to support such a levereaged weight via a fairly thin depth?

We would of loved the vanity unit version with a drawer, but that comes in at a grand!!!!

How about making the shelf yourself. Just get someone/yourself to make up a couple of large brackets out of some flat-bar and drill some holes for fixing. Can always chase the walls to accept the bar or, face wall with same as shelf.

I think you'll find if you read the technical drawings on the VB site, that the shelf does not support the sink. The sink supports itself.

Now how you get either to take a lot of weight is another matter! If it's a solid wall use BIG bolts and if stud you'll be taking the wall apart to put big supports behind the plasterboard. Remember the wall hung toilets have their own complete steel frame to hold them up....
