Installing dimmer switch - question about existing wiring

Hello,
Just purchased a dimmer switch for the babies room. Have fitted others in the house no problem, but the existing wiring for this one seems a little odd (with no neutral/earth being used?).
Could someone clarify where the wires from the first photo should go to the dimmer in the second photo?
The single red wire is going to "1" and the other two red's to "COM" (clicky phots for larger versions if you like)
Any help would be superb!

There's some disagreement about this, but there's a strong body of opinion that it's best for babies to sleep in a dark room at least for the first 6mths. If there's a noticeable light source then it interferes with the development of their eyes.Deva Link said:
