Ok semi detached 4 bed house (2 floors) currently has storage heating.

As we had a poor winter last yr (1st one in house) thinking of getting central heating installed.

No plumbers seem to have time to talk to us so anyone got rough idea of costs?

All the floors are oak so we know some will have to come up.

Any ideas on what it costs to do LPG or Oil installations?

Can't help with cost of house install, but I had a thread going recently about Oil vs LPG. Some good info too about ground source heat & woodchip boilers etc.

A good way of finding out what similar installations have cost in your area is to go to www.mybuilder.com and look at recent jobs.

Go to 'Find Jobs' - enter your postcode and click on 'hired' - you can then filter by plumbing or gas installation jobs and you'll get a list of jobs that tradesman have quoted for. You'll also get an idea of what kind of spec people are asking for

LPG would be the the cheapest of the two, most boilers can be converted to LPG quite easily. Oil boilers are expensive! With regards to the oak flooring, yes you're right that the same will have to come up possibly two or three planks per room. They should go back down okay. Possible costs for the job will be around £4000 approximately, as not knowing room sizes and layout.
