I can currently hear stones going round in the washing machine, what damage will they be doing if any?

Either:

A) Stop the washing machine and remove the stones before they cause any damage

Or:

B) Let it run to destruction whilst posting about it on PH

I went for option B, no damage to washing machine or clothes. Lesson learned however, leave washing to cleaner from now on.

Doubt they'll do much damage; people forgetting the change in their pockets must happen all the time. Makes quite a racket!

Last time I emptied the trap on the washing machine I found 2 HSS drill bits, a pencil and a pop-rivet....
