The previous owners of our house (good friends of ours) had spruced up the bathroom a few months before deciding to sell by painting the bathroom tiles with white tile paint. It was designed for wet areas and is a stretchy / rubbery sort of texture.

We have been in the house for about a year now and have discovered that this tile paint is basically complete shat. Its not hard wearing at all so its peeling off in places revealing the coloured tiles underneath and we have also found its impossible to clean and seems to trap dirt. Using something like gumption makes the peeling worse. It has also turned a nasty yellow colour.

Is there a way of removing this tile paint completely? In the places it has peeled off there is no residue on the tiles and hase even come straight off of the grout without leaving anything behind.

Obviously re-tiling is the preferred option but we can't really afford that at the moment.

Hehe yeah I guess that is the obvious choice really hehe

I guess the paint should not have bonded in to the tiles at all so it should lift straight off with a light application of paint stripper.

Or apply some heat. You might be able to peel it off.
