Just laying wooden flooring in the lounge, we have a big fireplace with a wood burner, and a stone hearth, the front edge of the hearth, ( where the flooring butts up against ), is a natural finish, in other words all over the place.
I've left a small gap, for expansion and to feed speaker cables around the hearth, but it still looks untidy.
What do you think the best way is to finish it off, doesn't have to look perfect, ( it an old house, so a bit of character is not bad ), but it just needs tidying a bit.
Thanx.

Most places sell silicone to match wooden floors. Won't look too good though??

Exactly what I would do. Live with it for a while whilst the floor moves and find's it's place then get some thin angled timber and pin it round with some nice Mitred cuts.

I think you're mistaking settlement and wearing due to age and use, for piss poor workamanship wink

As suggested above some profiled timber lengths will finish the job off nicely. They should cover the 'expansion gap' around the fire place nicely too.

The edges of harths used to be rebated so you could the flooring under it and hide the edge. oh the good old days when things were done 'right'.
