Tried Better living (kitchens direct) and what a crock of ste....

was originally quoted £25k and then the commercial side came back with a reasonable 7k and 3k for the work surface, this is the kitchen I like:

http://www.bettaliving.co.uk/fitted-kitchens/range...

however this says dont:

http://www.screwfix.com/talk/thread.jspa?threadID=...

So is there anyone out there that can do the one I want at a reasonable price and not be a scam job?

I now have the plan that I want, is it a wickes/howden job?

Ahh!

Possibly a bit far out from Bristol to tempt the guy I know. I'll mention it to him, though.

He can probably get a decent discount off the kitchen to start with, and then fit it for a decent price.

He doesn't traval that far from Bristol, usually. Always worth a mention, though!

Well if he can sell and sort out shipment at a decent price and I get someone from London to do the fitting its fine with me.

Im currently trying to cost up geting just the frames, etc from a kitchen supplier going to appliances from somewhere else, worksurface from somewhere else and top it all off with this hiding in the corner:

The corner sink is non negotiable and is going in everything else is under advisement

Ok end me an email and I will send the plan I finally got off the better living people.

I wanted to deal with the people that did this for my folks for 27k

http://www.mulberrykitchens.co.uk/mulberry_kitchen...

stunning just isnt enough and that included moving the boiler, plastering, lights, floor, the kitchen and all appliances of which there is a load missing in the pics and new boiler.

But they wont come to london

I've been looking at wren kitchens (part of ebuyer). I went to their showroom and their stuff seems to be comparable with B&Q, Wickes etc but a fair bit cheaper.

http://www.wrenkitchens.com/

There's also DIY kitchens in the same area.

JERRYCO - have you any experience of these companies since they are local to you?

PHer Limahl (Brendan) runs a kitchen fitting business, near Bedford IIRC. Classy looking stuff. Worth contacting.

Yes we have used Wren before as a supply only company for clients. Not a bad company, kitchen quality is okay but they are slightly expensive as they do not have trade prices. Never used DIY Kitchens though. We tend to use Howden's Joinery, Brigitte Kitchens UK Ltd and Magnet Kitchens. In my opinion, these companies supply higher quality and specification kitchens.

I'm in the market for a new kitchen shortly so was interested in this thread. It just so happens that there is a Howdens and a Benchmark just up the road from me in Gillingham. Had a look at the Benchmark showroom and was quite impressed with the quality of the units - nice thick 18mm doors, feels nice and solid (makes the B&Q, Wickes and Magnet stuff look pretty flimsy).

The only thing is though is that as it was trade only I couldn't find prices anywhere and the one chap that was there was busy with a customer. I know someone in the building trade that could probably order me the units but it would be useful to get a rough ballpark on unit prices before wasting the chaps time. Are we talking in the ballpark of the Wren kitchen / DIY Kitchens.com unit prices for instance, ie £129 for a fully built gloss finish 1000mm drawer line base unit (as an example)

Or if anyone has a price list they wouldn't mind sharing that would be even better biggrin

Cheers, John

Hi John, I have an account with Howdens, and tend to get the best discount you can get ( between 70-82%) If you pm me with what style you are looking at can, I give you a rough guide price.

Hi Alex - I'm having an extension built at the moment, and my builder has got a Howdens kitchen unit estimate based on drawings (about 20 gloss white units) but the Howdens surveyor wants to come and measure/quote once the room is ready. I've heard so many people say that 70% discount is possible, but how will I know if I'm getting that! Will his first price be the full price and up to me to haggle down, or is he likely to give a price including a specific quoted discount?! I guess my fear is that, although I might find the quote affordable, I won't know when to stop haggling and accept the price as fair (i.e. discounted the 70%!). Are their true "full prices" available to the public? Problem also is that I can't play for time, as the point at which the surveyor comes is really about a week before the kitchen needs to go in!

Si - I know a guy in Essex who is a Kitchen Fitter, would probably travel into London.

Got a load of pictures of his work on Facebook, PM me if you want the link.

It depends on your builder tbh, if he is fitting then he will possibly be getting the discount and passing some of it on to you ( but not all).
Howdens can be funny on discount, I have bought the same unit in the same week and depending on how they feel at the time the discount can be different.
I have the "retail prices for the range you are looking at, so if you want to pm me I can give you a ball park figure of the "real" cost with the 70% taken off.

To the op, I am based in London and do a lot of Kitchens ( can provide referances and photos of past work.) Feel free to pm me if you are interested.

Search for your nearest Intoto Kitchens showroom. They will give you a free quote and sell very nice German kitchens, they will also project manage or supply only.
