Hi All

I'm currently fitting out my new office. The insurance company is happy for me to put my own alarm in and I'm not looking for a monitored system at this time.

I'll probably upgrade it in the future when I start holding more stock but for now, I need to keep the costs down. I'm quite happy installing an alarm (my background is electronics) but would be happy for recommendations on online suppliers and any panels to look for/avoid. Going for wired rather than wireless.

It'll need to cope with 2 panic buttons, 3 PIRs and a couple of door contacts.

The main office is downstairs from the access door so perhaps a keyfob or secondary disarm panel might be handy to keep the entry delay to a minimum.

Any recommendations?

Cheers - PBF

Texecom Premier 48 (£80 ish) - fantastic bit of kit - free wintex PC software to program it with. (Buy the PC Com link!)

Keypads £40 - £60 with proximity tag system.

Bell box £20-£30.

Other bits - negligible cost. £10 for a 100m role of alarm cable.

Easy to wire up if you know a bit.

HTH

ETA : This gives you PLENTY of expandibility with Radio Links / GSM Links / etc etc

Cheers, sounds good to me.

I need to have a furtle around the workshop today, I must have a reel of suitable cable gathering dust in my "Don't throw that away, I'll need it someday" corner smile

Any recommendations for cheap suppliers or should I just have a mooch around - the online shops I've found so far don't seem to be particularly well set-up but I've found a few who do that manufacturer.

Now if I could only take a few weeks off to get the move all sorted I'd be a happy man, but need to keep the customers coming & the plates spinning!

There are usually lots of this stuff on ebay.

eg

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TEXECOM-PREMIER-48ZONE-ALARM...

Even if you buy one without docs you can get them in pdf form from texecom.

Honeywell Galaxy g220 excellent bit of kit and whack your bt line into it and it will text you when it goes off etc.. Also loads of flexibility just plonk on an RF portal and go wireless!

We fit hundreds of these, easy to use, and very rarely do we have any issues due to the panel.

I would def recommend spending a bit on the PIR's, Pyronix DTAM dual techs would be perfect for an
office. Pm me if you want any other advice, where abouts are you?

Paul

ETA. If you do ever want to get police response via an alarm receiving center make sure ALL of the equipment has a security grading on at least Grade 2 to conform to the current standards (en50131 / pd6662) of not you will end up having to change it before you can get police response.

I've installed a lot of ADE Accentas and never had a problem. Your profile says you're in Mersyside - if you ever get around Manchester on your travels, there is a shop called 'Five Star Alarms' on Oldham road just off J22 of the M60 his prices are very good. They do installation work but will also sell the gear on its own.
