Chaps, does anyone know if there is a paint that can be painted over plaster to give the impression of polished concrete (that sort of striated dark grey), with a durable finish?

New kitchen is in, and very sleek (especially with the oiled Zebrano worktop - gorgeous thing it is, too!), so I quite fancy leaving the plaster finish on the splashback: was originally going to have it tiled or a glass splashback fitted, but think it will look better and a bit less Space 1999 if I keep the finish rough.

Was going to use plaster primer and then simply paint with a kitchen paint: but that got me thinking that there may be something more unusual out there that would give a more stucco/polished concrete finish...

Just one thing, a splash back needs to be easily cleanable, hence tiles or glass may be a better idea? (sorry for being so dull)

What about if you had a peice of the worktop cut to a height of about 4" and used that as the splash back? Then painted the wall etc

A rough finish will be a st to clean. Even if you find the paint you want, a glass splashback is likely to be a good idea.
