Homemade wormery
Discussion
Has anyone ever made a wormery?
Was looking it up on the net and sounds extremely easy-
Take bin with tap or drainage, line it with breathable liner, add moist shredded paper and bit of compost- add worms, add more shredded paper, lid it and add your foodwaste. Wait.
was wondering if anyone has had a go- and is it really as easy as it sounds?
I have a spare leaking water butt- saves chucking it

I have, just a bin with hole in the bottom and bought some worms bought over the internet. After the first few months they'd multiplied and there were thousands in there. Then one night I left the lid off and all the worms disappeared
But they've munched through a fair amount of scraps. I suppose soon I will need to get the soil out, separate the worms somehow and start a new bin.
They're generally pretty hardy, the survived through winter and I don't look after them as much as I probably should.
