Above ground pool - salt water?
Discussion
Hi all that is the PH oracle
We have an 18ft diameter above ground pool. Needless to say we have not yet put it up but in preparation for the stinking hot month of August (ha ha) we were thinking of having salt water this time rather than chlorine. Has anyone done this as well? Any advice?

Definately salt water rather than chlorine - you just have to keep an eye on the pH. Stripping the chlorine from the salt result makes the pool go alkili so you may have to add acid. Sunlight makes the chlorine recombine with the sodium and tends to make the pool acidic.
It's easy to fit a chlorinater and tip bags of salt in, but before you do investigate ozone treatment.
Chlorine is nasty stuff, a saltwater pool runs at lower levels than a conventional pool - but ozone is good for you and is even less toxic than saltwater.
