Hi

I live in a block of flats which has a covenant attached to it which prohibits the display of estate agent advertising boards on the outside.

If an agent puts a board up am I within my rights to remove and destroy it?

I'm also going to report it to managing agent as the boards are nailed into the brick wall outside which causes damage but they are so slow to respond to anything I've already taken the boards down because they're an eye-sore.

For the moment I've taken them down and stick them in the rubbish area and emailed the agents telling them to pick them up today or I will destroy them but before I do I want to make sure I'm not actually breaking the law.

Thanks for any help.

Or just get on with life, surely there are bigger fish to fry..

Does anybody else care as much as you about them?

Not that I really care what anyone else thinks about them but presumably quite a lot feel the same way otherwise there wouldn't be a covenant against them. Anyway, the fact is they're ugly and make the place look cheap, the same as satellite dishes which is why they're also not allowed.

I ignored it when an agent had a single board up but when I got home yesterday and the same agent had stuck another 3 up I thought it was too much.

Oh, and one of my neighbours used to take them down but he's moved out now.

Thanks for your sage words though.
